Flat Gingerbread houses! How totally adorable, and completely do-able this is? If you are looking for a fast, easy way to give the kids that gingerbread house making experience, but you’re just not up for the traditional, highly intensive version, why not give this a try?
I used a simple Gingerbread cookie recipe from the Food Network and some candies from the grocery store, as well as some ready to use white chocolate icing. I think you’ll agree, they turned out amazing, and the girls had a great afternoon making them.
We rolled out the cookie dough, and cut cut house shapes out using a craft knife and a pizza cutter, then baked then for 15 minutes.
Then, it was time for the real fun to start! Candy anyone? After mapping out where they wanted everything to go, Hunny and Sydney attached all the candies, and added some “snow” effects to these giant flat gingerbread houses.
The end result: a huge success! No worrying about houses falling down, no intervention needed on my behalf. Just two sisters getting into the Christmas spirit with some good old fun and Christmas cheer. Now to enjoy these delicious cookie creations. xoxo
